Pearl Jam Fanview - Night 1

Well.. the day was Tuesday, i was so excited, i woke up at like 6am which is very early for me and then drove to my brothers place in Adelaide. All day i was thinking about a few songs i really wanted to hear, Immortality, Once, Present Tense, Throw Your Hatred Down (after seeing the BSB shows) and Release or Long Road. Wow. i got all bar release and long road, which was still great coz they had been opening each show with something different.

Anyways, we headed into the city at about 2pm. We went to Rundle Mall first just for a look around. I saw a few PJ shirts floating around. We then went down to the Adelaide Entertainment Centre about 3pm i think. We went straight to the meet up that had been organised at the Gov across the road from the venue. Only about 5 of us were there at this time, including Megan and Joel who i had planned on meeting. Great people. Everyone was pretty pumped up for the show. I knew it was gunna be special. Megan gave me my Newy poster, great! We waited around at the pub for a while, had a few drinks (thanks megan). Meanwhile heaps of people had rocked up. the place was packed full of PJ fans! It was great. We got the jukebox going with all the PJ songs it had. A few people had said it was one of the best meet ups yet. Great stuff! Me my bros n megan and joel headed over to the venue and went round back to see what was happening, we saw Judd and a few others there who had been waiting since about 3pm and the band was not in the venue yet (we found out later they arrived about 7-8), we waited for a while then went and got out 10c tix, FOURTH ROW CENTRE!!! fuck yeah!! Then we lined up out the front. The crowd/line got pretty big pretty quick. I was first to go in and bought my poster and 2 shirts straight away. We didnt wanna hang around any longer so we headed to scope out our great seats! we were both amazed how good they were. A few more started to come in. We met a nice American man, Matt, and his sister who were right next to us. Judd and a few others were also in our line a few seats down. The 10c section started to get restless and decided to get the crowd up, they (we) started doing some whole crowd claps. then got a mexican wave going, second time round it went around the venue about 6 times. amazing. this got the crowd really going, wel done everyone on the floor.

It was now time for the Kings of Leon to rock the fuck out of us! they really did a great job at warming the crowd up, especially the 10c section. They played really well. Most people were really impressed. Anyway their set finished and it seemed like for ever before the master/slave music came one.... I felt so lucky and happy right then, i realised i was about to witness the greatest band ever from the fourth row centre (not to mention again the next night)

Small town. Now usually i would say i dont like this as an opener but it worked great! the crowd was fuckin loud from the first line. I just wanna scream "HELLO" was loud as. The crowd was so pumped! Straight into Go, wooo. Rocked. DTE was great as usual, again it rocked. The band are so tight yet rock so much its crazy. God's Dice, now that was unexpected. Its not really a song i like that much but it was great to hear and i really enjoyed it. ONCE! yes! i loved the moment when i first heard the first chords. they are amazing. so loud and powerful and angry! what could be next? wow again, Immortality! SO SO SO unexpected, and i knew this night would just be special now! a nice little improv at the beginning, my bro even said thats the improv they do before immortality! having not played it much this tour i thought he would be wrong but the first few note were really special, the 10c really loved hearing this and mike played the best solo for it. SOLAT. just plain and simple rocks. Then wishlist, grrat version IMO, complete with mirrorball. Ed's adlibs, i wish i lived in adelaide, get away from the usa.. and so on. great to hear. At about this point after wishlist i could tell something was wrong with ed (it wasnt untill later when stone said ed was sick as a dog i realised what it was) WWS. great live. Even Flow. So long, great solos form both mike and matt, crowd loved it. Severed Hand. I said "YEAH"... great live. WHen we first met the american man matt he said he really wanted to hear amry reserve! he got it. he gave us a few high 5's, so american! he really really enjoyed and it was great to see that smile on his face when he introduced it, talking about the war and the families. daughter was a song i hadnt heard before, and was really good, great tags, beds are burning by the oils, and war, crowd sung along so loudly to both. Why go, hey hey hey hey part was good once it got going. GTF. such a nice song. Now this next combo really rocked my socks off, hehe, Interstellar overdrive/ corduroy! wow. Corduroy fuckin rocks so much, and its prob my fav song! Listening to the boot, the crowd is so so loud, you can hear them (us) over the whole band!..

encore, and a time to reflect! talking with everyone, all saying great things. We got a few more claps going, crowd going nuts. band came back out. Man of the Hour. although now really a sing along or crowd pleaser or rocker, it was amazing to hear and is such a beautiful song about a touching topic. No women/baby, no cry. hehe. nice stuff. crowd was singing before ed came in! stunning. into betterman, crowd was farkin loud as! this was topped off with the greatest save it for later tag ive ever heard! everyone was waiting for it! crowd singing save it for later before ed came in in the quieter/down part. Dont let me dowwwwwwwwnnnnnnn......! Now this next song is another fav and always will be. and this versino is amazing, beautiful, epic. Black. crowd was so loud. im spinning ohhhhhhh im spinning. anda nice mike solo. i was almost crying.. and i never cry! so emotional. then a nice tag. come back come back come back, we belong together together together!.. wow. *teary* *puts it on with headphones* do do do do do do's were extremely well done and LOUD. the band finished, but the crowd hadnt, we kept the do do do's going for some time (what are we in milan or something) with Ed responding with amen to that. Life Wasted. such a powerful song live, great rocker. Alive. nice! yeah's during solo were great, amazing to be a part of that finally!

Last Kiss.. oh well its always going to be played in every city.. Still nice to sing/clap along to. Crowd was loud once again, taking over two lines from Ed near the end. I think it was after Severed hand and again during the 1st encore there was a chant going just to the right of me "let stone sing" with ed saying ok ok its a democracy up here. Dont give me no lip! woooo. with a good intro from the man himself! he was really humbled. and mentioned how great ed is coz he is so sick yet doing so much for us. thanks ed. then a request for the mexican guy next to me, sad! love that song. last fucking exit. rocks. rocked. rocking. fuk. yeah. jeremy, good to hear another classic i hadnt heard before! great crowd acceptance! loud ending. now baba o'riely! love this song, love the who! rocking version. version of the aus tour. we actually knew our part to sing... furthermore we did it loud.

what a show! what a crowd! what a boot! what people i met!
